About

Providence Baptist Church
Established in 1841
Providence Baptist Church (PBC) was established in 1841.

Prior to the church's establishment, John Echols was given a land grant for serving in the Republic of Texas' army. This land included the early settlement of the Providence Community.

The church's first building was made of logs and was under the leadership of James A. Prewett, its first deacon, meeting three-four times per year plus homecoming.

Homecoming is still a important to PBC, with current and former church members, families of church members and people who just simply love the church returning to worship together and fellowship with one another.

The church is built upon the word "providence" -- meaning "divine guidance or care," which is shown in the history of the church.

The church currently meets on Sunday morning for worship services and Sunday School and Sunday evenings for Bible study.
